Scheduled maintenance of Archie on Tuesday 29 June

Archie will be unavailable on Tuesday 29 June between 8:00-15:00 CEST. During the downtime, users will not be able to log in to Archie, and authors and editorial base staff will not be able to check reviews out or in to Archie via RevMan.

The downtime will be used to move Archie to a new, improved hardware environment. At the same time, we will also update the underlying database of Archie from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008. Both improvements will help deliver a faster and more reliable system that is aimed at increasing productivity and user satisfaction.

During the first hours after being able to access Archie again, users may experience that the response time is slower than usual. This will be because the whole Archie database will need to be re-indexed and this is a resource intensive exercise even for a powerful new machine. After the database has been fully indexed, users should experience overall improvement of the performance.

If you experience any problems following the upgrade, please use the Archie Problem Reporting Form.

We apologise for the inconvenience of the downtime – but look forward to be able to offer an improved system to you all.
